Life is what happens while you are busy making other plans, said John Lennon in a song to his son. Life does happen and sometimes is can be expensive.  With marriage generally comes kids and then family illnesses and home buying but an emergency cash cushion should be part of your financial plan.

What separates opportunity form financial set back is preparation. But unfortunately, it usually takes panic before people take action. Waiting for that major life event to take place is when it is to late to be prepared, like putting off reviewing your car insurance and then the next day you find your car has been stolen.

What if’s are the thoughts that should not be put off. You ban begin by looking at where you are not and then some assumptions about where you want to be a few years from now.  As time goes by, you can check your progress. There are books that you can read to help you be prepared for any financial issue that might come your way. Books can also help you evaluate your needs is you haven’t already done that.
